The short answer

A paddy separator sorts unhusked paddy from brown rice after husking. Returning the paddy to the husker keeps the two material streams on their intended processing routes.

Why separation is needed

The output of husking may still contain unhusked grain. Sending the whole mixture forward treats unlike materials together. A separator creates a forward brown-rice stream and a return paddy stream.

Follow each outlet

Label the outlets before taking samples. Record which material should leave each one, and check the routing physically. An apparent separation problem can be difficult to interpret when return streams are not identified.

Operating considerations

Keep observations of feed rate and composition with each sample. Use the documented adjustment sequence for the separator design. Do not transplant deck-angle or speed settings from another machine.

Common investigation paths

If outlet purity changes, confirm that the feed has not changed first. Inspect accessible flow indicators while guarded; isolate before checking blockages or internal condition. Consider upstream husking and downstream demand together.

What a separator does not do

It does not remove bran, repair broken kernels or substitute for a destoner. Define its acceptance check around stream separation rather than the visual whiteness of the finished rice.
